Annie-Claude Laurin, Inf., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor (professeure adjointe) in the Faculté des sciences infirmières at Université Laval, Québec, Canada, and a researcher at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec. An intensive care nurse at the CHU de Québec–Université Laval since 2016, she completed her doctorate at Laval with SSHRC funding, studying nurses’ lived experience and actions in contexts of acharnement thérapeutique: perceived aggressive and futile treatment at the end of life in the intensive care unit. She is interested in the philosophical, social, and political structures which sustain this culture of death denial, in care and relational ethics, epistemic injustice, and nurses’ moral agency and resistance.
