Nursing a Radical Imagination
Examining the historical context of healthcare whilst focusing on building a more just, equitable world, this book proposes a radical imagination for nursing and presents possibilities for speculative futures embracing queer, feminist, posthuman, and abolitionist frames. Nursing Inquiry: the Critical Posthumanism special issue
What began as a call for contributions became Nursing Inquiry 31(1) (2024) — a special issue anchored by four of our papers: Notes on [post]human nursing, We all care, ALL the time (a recorded conversation with posthuman scholars Goda Klumbytė and Kay Sidebottom), The Vitruvian nurse and burnout, and Annie-Claude and Patrick’s Thinking through critical posthumanism. Camp: nursing and the politics of seriousness
Jamie guest-edited a collection on camp for Nursing Philosophy — what happens when nursing stops being polite and starts getting real. Unfolding across the journal through 2026: Jamie’s The Camp of Reason: Spinoza’s Ethics as Affirmative Excess, with papers by Cleofas and colleagues, Berdida, Runtung, and Graziano’s Camp, Nursing, and the Politics of Seriousness. The collection took the stage at IPONS 2026 as Jamie and Jess’s invited conversation of the same spirit.
